Rethymno is a beautiful Venetian city located along the northern coast of Crete, Greece. A close resemblance to the Venetian Harbor in Chania, Rethymno has numerous restaurants, cafes, shops, bars and hotels. It is the third largest city on Crete; however, it doesn’t feel like a large city due to many quaint alley streets flourishing with romantic charm.
You can find long sandy beaches combined with medieval city ruins; as well as the famous Rimondi Fountain in the Platanou Square (once known as the center of the Venetian City). The fountain was built in 1626 and still springs water today!
There is an organic brewery (Brink’s Brewery) located outside the city center. Unfortunately, there weren’t any tours available when we visited. Boo!
With many lively bars and restaurants located along the Venetian Harbor, you’ll definitely have a fun night out.
Take a romantic walk along the beautiful harbor towards the picturesque Venetian Lighthouse. It’s a wonderful way to end your day here in Rethymno.
